Elaine Dalcher has been teaching art for 40 years at all levels. She retired from her teaching position with the Grand Rapids Public Schools seven years ago and has been enthusiastically painting in her studio ever since!  Eleven years ago Elaine was asked if she would offer a studio painting class.  It was at that time, in 2005, that she began teaching a class to adults in her studio. The class has been running successfully ever since, offering students the opportunity to paint in a studio environment with instruction as needed.  In fact, the class has been full to capacity with a waiting list!  Contact Elaine to join the January, 2018 waiting list. The fall, 2017 class is full.

I met a fun, imaginative person at my oil painting classes - it was me!” JT

"You are a phenomonal teacher. The experience of just doing, without thinking much and without judging was just what I needed.  Your classes are fantastic!" DHK

 Journal entry

Oil Painting Class is such a wonderful place to be - the space, and all us eager painters. Elaine is patient with our process and able to direct our energy toward our work -- working out our questions on perspective, color, value, angles, what to put in and what to leave out, reminding us to move forward with our ideas. I feel very fortunate to be part of this group - we all approach our work differently and Elaine is with each of us every step of the way. It is a safe and nurturing space.  DF

The encouragement and knowledge that I received during this class has given me the skills and the pleasure to paint.  Now how cool is that...” S.M.

Painting in Elaine's studio surrounded by her art is a treat in itself. Mix in the comeradery of fellow painters, the advice, tricks, and surprises of painting, the fun and helpful peer critiques, and it becomes a rare and wonderful combination! It's great fun!”  -J.E.

"This class is certainly one of my favorites and I have taken a lot of classes throughout the years.  Elaine is a gifted teacher and artist!"  -DD
